Set up your assistant

Works on any website: Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, Webflow, WordPress, or hand-built HTML. Takes about two minutes and needs no technical knowledge.
Already set up? See your leads and how it is doing.

1

Your licence key and website

If your site also answers on a builder address, put it here. The assistant only works on addresses listed above, so a site built on mystore.myshopify.com, you.wixsite.com, site.webflow.io or name.squarespace.com needs that one added too. www is already covered.

2

Check what it found

Everything below was read off the website. Correct anything that is wrong, and add whatever it could not see. The more you put in What people ask, the better the assistant answers.

Changes what it asks for and what it refuses to say. A garage asks for the make and model, a restaurant asks the date and how many people, a clinic never comments on symptoms. The scan fills this in; correct it if it guessed wrong.

Where should the leads arrive?

When somebody leaves their name and number, this is who gets told. Not the same as the business email above, which is what the assistant tells visitors.

Also buzz my phone on Telegram (optional)

Email is the notification people miss. Telegram arrives like a text message, free, and takes about two minutes to set up.

  1. In Telegram, message @BotFather and send /newbot. Answer its two questions and it gives you a token that looks like 123456789:AAF-something.
  2. Paste that token below.
  3. Open the bot BotFather just made you and send it any message, even "hi". Telegram will not let a bot message you until you have messaged it first.
  4. Press Find my chat.

Paste this into the website

One line, once, and the assistant appears on every page. It goes just before the closing </body> tag, but every builder below has a box that does that for you.

Wix
  1. Site menu, then Settings.
  2. Custom code, under Advanced.
  3. + Add Custom Code, paste the line, name it "Off Hours".
  4. Add to All pages, place code in Body - end, then Apply.

Needs a paid Wix plan. Custom code is not available on a free site, so connect a plan first or the Custom code menu will not be there.

Squarespace
  1. Settings, then Advanced, then Code Injection.
  2. Paste the line into the Footer box, then Save.

Needs the Business plan or higher. Code Injection is not on the Personal plan, so if you cannot find it under Advanced, that is why.

Shopify
  1. Online Store, then Themes, then Actions, then Edit code.
  2. Open theme.liquid, find </body> near the bottom.
  3. Paste the line on the line above it, then Save.

Works on every Shopify plan. This is the only one that asks you to open a code editor, so if that is off-putting, any Shopify app that injects a script into the theme footer will do the same job.

Webflow
  1. Site settings, then Custom code.
  2. Paste into Footer code, Save, then Publish. It only goes live on publish.

Needs a paid site plan. Custom code in Site settings is not available on a free Webflow site.

WordPress

Use the Off Hours plugin instead. It does everything this line does, plus it stores your leads inside WordPress and emails them from your own domain. This snippet works too, if you would rather not install a plugin.

Anything else, or hand-built HTML

Paste the line immediately before </body> in your page template. If the site has an "custom code", "embed code", "footer scripts" or "tracking code" box, that box works too.

Open the website in a new tab and look bottom right. If the bubble is there, you are done. Come back to this page any time with the same licence key and website to change the answers.
